I once kept my Jr. High Earth Science class late because the teacher made a mistake in explaining parallax of stars. He said that a star that's 2 parsecs away has a parallax of 2 seconds, but the parallax actually decreases as the distance increases. I drew a simple diagram on the blackboard, yet he still didn't get it, and I had to go over it several times in different ways.

I once kept my Jr. High Earth Science teacher late because he was in charge of detentions. Does that count? :P

Abstain. The right answer is surely "it depends". Either 1 or 3 depending on the speed of the flow of the water.

At high flow rate definitely cup 1- outflow will be less than inflow.

When is the last time you saw a high flow rate water/liquid coming down in drops as it is in the picture?

When is the last time you saw droplets half the width of glasses? Assuming that the drops are water then the glasses are extremely small and so I think it's perfectly possible for glass 1 to fill up first if the drops are coming quickly.

I think it's fair to say we have done the 'problem' to death now lol.

Except no one so far has pointed out that cups don't look like beer glasses!

And who designed these stupid cups with pipes coming out of their sides and why put a pipe there if you are going to seal it off? And what is holding the whole apparatus up? The whole thing appears to be just hanging in mid-air. I am preparing a paper on this where I will generalize to n cups instead of 7. And who is going to clean up the mess after the cups overflow? Who? Who? Don't look at me.

Reminds me of the sitcom trope where a tutor is giving the pupil a typical math problem, like "Two trains are traveling at N miles an hour...", and the student starts asking "irrelevant" questions about the trains, passengers, cities, etc.
