What is the meaning of all the "dots" directly beneath someone's name?

Am pretty sure that relates to how many posts the user has made. Most message boards have something representing this. I would have thought a bridge forum could come up with something cleverer than dots though.

OK, then what about the members who have some or other caption between their BBO login names and the dots e.g. JLOGIC “2011 Poster of the Year Winner.” Who or how are these captions added?

If you go into "Edit my Profile", one of the options there is member Title. Any text you enter here will be shown above the dots. I have added a (temporary) title for myself just for you to illustrate this.

By the way, why is this thread open to comments from nonmods? :)

I thought this too. I think it would probably be better to have a thread reporting the changes where only Moderators can post and a second thread where plebs can make comments on the changes, providing that the second thread did not simply become a flame-fest anyway.

And, barring mods-gone-rogue, we could avoid Russell's paradox rather neatly.

We could have a string of suit-symbols instead. Maybe hearts would look nice?

Moved the thread asking about transfer bids to the Novice/Intermediate Forum -- it's too basic for General Bridge Discussion.

I deleted 2 of the 3 "michaels" threads in General Bridge Discussion.

Except that I would never make a claim like "I have never insulted anybody", which was the post that I was very clearly responding to.

A thread on the horrific shooting of a school girl has been, at least temporarily, hidden due to concerns over some of the content in it, and the way the discussion was going. It was in the water cooler, where such heated discussions are allowed, to a point. i will wait to see what the other administrators think should happen to the post in the thread and/or the thread itself.

I am sure no one thinks shooting a peaceful school girl is ever acceptable, and the post was not hidden for expressing that attitude strongly.

Moved the thread about Alvin Roth winning the Nobel Prize to the Water Cooler, since he's not the famous bridge player.

I hid the thead "Kick out the james (trolls)" in the Water Cooler. It was in violation of Rule #1 in the Water Cooler Rules thread: "No personal attacks".

It also appeared to be a violation of the Forum Terms of Service for essentially the same reason. Maybe the OP will be suitably punished for this deliberate violation?
