How many more threads are you planning on starting? This is the third. Did you read my post in your previous thread or does it not suit you to do so. You have asked for two to be closed already. I am actually quite surprised that they haven't all been deleted so far. Is 1998 the year of your birth? :)

If he had posted the thread as "who is the worse TD", they would have been closed and he would have been warned about his actions. Posting who is the "best" is not harming anyone, and as far as I can tell violates no rules of the site. Getting "testy" about his post could get others close to the edge of what is acceptable.

Having said this, these post are "silly". The reason why is the poll on the forum only allow 20 entries, and we have thousands of TDs (some with power to start tournaments, some who just "help out" even though they can not start them themselves). I myself know for a fact the best TD is a fellow called Inquiry, and I note he is not mentioned in any of the polls. He is fair, level headed, and treats everyone with respect, and even post all the results on the web after his tournaments... how can you beat that?

I just have a hard time imagiing the motivation behind these polls. I am trying to remember if any of these TD's have lost their TD rights or been suspended by the BBO. I am trying to remember if any of these are associated with pay tournaments. That is, I am trying to determine why post this in the first place. It is clear, other will win everytime, assuming people bother to vote, if for no other reason as a protest against the concept of thes polls. I guess a better way would be "which of this limited group of TD's is the best", at least then, no one could say we should all vote for Inquiry but he is not in the list.

I will say this, future "who is the best TD" polls by Nik1998 will probably be deleted if for no other reason than because we are getting tired of locking them at his request, and three on this subject has to be enough.

The best TD is someone who is capable to follow and enforce the laws of bridge.
This means that you can count out everybody who bans psyching or applies other restrictions that are not covered by the laws of bridge.
You only learn how capable he/she is, if you ever needed him/her to make a difficult decision at your table.

A lot (if not most) of the free tourneys are hosted by friendly people who try to have fun or allow others to have fun playing some kind of tourney. They do not know much about the laws of bridge, but they are trying hard to make everybody as comfortable as possible. We should thank them for what they do and accept the fact, that they are hosts and not TD's. If you don't like what they offer, remember that you are not forced to participate and pick another tourney.

OK, put inquiry in for a tie too, though I prefer him as a partner :)

How about Gerben42, I've never played a tournament that he led but I hear from reliable sources (me) that he is a great TD :)

Really there is no way to quantify this. Some TDs might be great for a certain audience but horrible for another.

I think is very nice this poll, but only few players make the vote.....many players don't see never the forum, we could make a spam in the lobby or in the our tournament, sometimes.

Good work for you all:)

I’m glad you like the poll however I think what is really needed is a qualification test and rating system for TD's. Looking at the TD names in this thread its obvious BBO allows just anyone to TD and it is time for a clean up.

And this bothers you because there are so many free unaffiliated games out there that you just can't choose which one to play in?

And for pay tournaments, well, if people don't like 'em, people won't pay to play in them, so as far as I'm concerned they police themselves.

Oh, I missed the B) from my post. I think rating systems are a farce and a qualification test absurd, look up the earlier threads on this topic.

We need PICTURES of the TD's to know who is the best (looking), at least that is only a matter of personal preference......
