After my pard went down (I dont think that that was unusual for this hand) he said I should pass 1NT, we had no agreements so I played 2 diamonds as natural

Scoring: IMP

West North East South

- - 1 Pass
1 Pass 1NT Pass
2 Pass 2NT Pass
3NT Pass Pass Pass

you shouldn't pass 1NT
and you shouldn't treat 2 as natural, it's nonsense

Huh? 2 is a new suit, ergo natural... I bid 2. You managed to reach game with 26 HCP. What's the problem? Partner is resulting.

your partner's picture should be taken for the Bridge Dictionary "result merchant" article.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

3. 2 is not forcing. Heck, if p had been smart enough to pass 2 the result merchant would have been happy.

wow

I can believe that it might be natural, but a new suit (minor) by an unpassed responder is NF?

whatever system that is i need to not play it.
