MPs, none vuln, solid opps, expert pard

AKQT4
3
KQJ83
JT

LHO pard RHO you
2 .. 3 .. 4 .. ??

Options are:
Suit = nat, NF
Dbl = take out
4NT = RKCB for clubs (3041)
5 = undiscussed
5NT = pick-a-slam (pard will understand it)

By the way, a direct 3NT by pard would show a balanced 19-22 or thereabouts.

yER bID?

Double looks the most flexible bid.

I think I'd bid 4S, really tough problem. At MP I think +300 is very likely and a disaster if I X, and I don't really want to play 5C instead of 4S that often. If we have a slam I think 450 or 480 will score well anyways (beating people in 5C).

A really tough one, especially at MPs.

I think 4 is better than double. Don't imagine anything else.
Kind regards,

I would double and take a possible 5 club to six.
I really expect more then just AKQXXX in clubs and out from partner.
Kind Regards

Roland

If 5NT is pick a slam, then that is my choice.

It is hard to fathom that we have 2 losers (OK, pard could have xx Kx xx AKQTxxx). Even if I am wrong and the opps have 2 aces, they could misguess and bid 6. Or they could misguess the defense and fail to cash them.

I like 4 at mps. At imps I think I would double.

That's exactly what happened, except that defenders didn't fail to cash their aces.. lol.

Scoring: MP

(2) .. 3 (4) 5NT
(pass) 6 end

It's very hard to probe for slam at this level, so one has to decide whether to bid it or not straight away. Bidding it seemed like the percentage bid, in which case 5NT certainly would get us to the right strain. Too bad it was the wrong level.. lol. Must confess I was expecting more to try for the slam, though.

Thx all.

Next problem - does N sit for the x? I wouldn't, but that spade void is really convincing.

hehe, I don't think partner would pass 4S with that hand.
