what do you mean? we have to assign the blame to one of the following:

• someone who overcalled and then tried 3NT with a weak suit and 5332 when his partner kept bidding and bidding
  
• someone who passed!!!! 3NT with 7-5

who would you blame?

Some small blame for North because he did bid 3♣ iso supporting his partner by bidding 3♦?

Definitely not 3NT, come on! South hasn't even shown his hand yet... bidding up to 3NT is pretty ok, but then South has a clear 4♠ bid showing 5-6. After this you should get to 6♦ pretty easily since North has 2 outside Aces...
