Since it's the hijacked thread and all... in Euchre, the JACKS of the trump suit and the other suit of the same color are called BOWERS.

See how it all comes back around like a great big circle?!

Brother Winston, we welcome you back into the flock. It is a great day when the sinner repenteth his mistaken ways and returneth to the true faith. Hallelujah.

there you have the left and the right bauers. jack of trump, and jack of the same color... they are the two highest cards, in that order.

World poverty is falling. Between 1970 and 2006, the global poverty rate has been cut by nearly three quarters. The percentage of the world population living on less than $1 a day (in PPP-adjusted 2000 dollars) went from 26.8% in 1970 to 5.4% in 2006 (Figure 1).

Euchre appears to have been introduced into the United States by the early German settlers of the State of Pennsylvania,[3] and from that state gradually to have been disseminated throughout the nation. It has been more recently theorized that the game and its name derive from an eighteenth-century Alsatian card game named Juckerspiel,[4] a derivative of Triomphe

It is the game responsible for introducing the Joker card into modern packs; this was invented around 1860 to act as a top trump or best bower (from the German word Bauer, "farmer", denoting also the Jack[1])

I left the room for 10 minutes and when I returned, there was a little window with a countdown on it. I thought it was some sort of evil virus* or something but then I realized it was just Windows wanting to restart my computer without my permission (not clicking "no" for 5 minutes doesn't count as permission). Is this fair? Is there any justification to this, moral or otherwise?

As much as I have never liked windows based operating systems, I must say that 7 has exceeded all expectations and has yet to draw my ire after 3 months of operation.

No lock-ups, no crashes, no continuous verifications. Just sensible and efficient computing.

I have noticed lately when my computer is on idle for a bit of time my computer freezes up, and I get an error msg saying my "driver" has stopped. After that my computer screen goes haywire and the font goes crazy.

I have to reboot to make the screen go back to normal.
