Where do you think mortgage rates in the U.S. will be in 5 years? Why?

mtg rates for a 30 yr fixed have hit 4.15%


how much lower can they go without massive deflation, which would mean a horrible economy?

According to my very untrustworthy memory: Sometime back in the early sixties mortgage rates went above 6%, a fact that everyone considered very shocking, the beginning of the end of the world as we knew it.

My guess is around 7% five years from now. My reason is that I have always had a fondness for the number 7. Really I have no idea. But gun to the head, I guess 7.
