Scoring: MP

1 - 1;
1NT - ?

1. Playing with your regular partner, what's your call?

2. Suppose you play a style where 1NT is bid with all minimum balanced hands (i.e. can include 4 spades) and partner can raise you with 3 hearts in a suitable hand. What's your call now?

2 in both cases: I assume that a 3 card raise would be a minimum and likely a stiff somewhere, or certainly at least a side suit of xx.

Qx xxx Kxx AKxxx is 1N for me, as an example.

I tend to pull 1N to 2Major on most 5 card majors, unless the suit is weak and I have scattered values, where they will fill in the other suits.

1) 2. We are already forced to game, and partner knows I have 5 already. Plus the ops seem to be relatively balanced, as they haven't interfered yet. Tiem to show P my 4 card suit. Standard Precision sequence.

Now, if we were slumming in some sort of standard or 2/1 system for some reason, I re-bid 2 both times.

2 is very obvious even if your style allows partner to have a singleton there

2.

Its right when partner has three, since he probably has a ruffing value in diamonds or 3334. Its probably right when he has two, since getting to my hand is an issue. I'll muddle through if he has one, but that would only be with a 3145 I think.

I can see its MPs, but if partner can't use my hearts, 1N will suck.

I wouldn't mind being in a 5-1 fit if partner has 3145 since my hearts are so good. But otherwise these hearts may never take tricks in NT so definitely bidding 2.
