If you have seen the Vugraph

2010-11-05 7th Kepri Governor Cup Qualification R 5_7 Gabsi Timah
Ngantung-Hasyim A
Boy Roring- D International
Endo-Sia
Wong C.W-Maggs

Basically the bidding goes
North 3S (with 7spades 5 Hearts as strange as that is but just OK)
West 4NT (I assume for minors)
South 5S (OK but double for both minors would be better)
East Double (What guarantee is for that your spade honours are badly placed and you don't understand the bidding)
West runs to 6C
South Pass (what more does he need to double it with 5 Clubs including J10 and KQ to five of diamonds)
Induces North's strange rescue bid 7H which is corrected to 7SX

Actually, I believe it was a correction to 6Sx. It is the board 29 on your vugraph list (you have to scroll down to see it). I reporoduced the hands below.

World class bidding I think this is not. It is probably best explained by the fact that in the score on this round (look at your vugraph chart), all the imps were going EW, and in huge bunches. I didn't add them up, but I see -15, -12, -11, -6, -10, -5 in 7 of the first 8 boards of this segment. So either NS were outmatched and just crazy bidders, or they were "swinging" like crazy. I don't know the answer to that question.

I suspect south didn't double 6 because he was afraid they could make 6 (after all, where were the hearts from his point of view?)

I have to do more than scroll. I need a serious magnifying glass! But then I could use it on Ben's hand diagram as well.

Am I experiencing a browser specific issue (I am using Google Chrome) or do others also find these too small?
You must know the rules well - so that you may break them wisely!

The size of the diagram depends on where the original link comes from. This problem has been pointed out in the "New Forums" thread, so hopefully the developers are working on a solution.

Seems like some sort of size constraint on the
[media]
type is in order.

I have it on a decent sized screen AND used a magnifying glass - it still isn't legible. I'm using Firefox just now.

Under Chrome 7 or Explorer 8 it is barely readable (Macbook pro 13" windows 7).

That said I find south bids reasonable, 5S, pass over 6C, he was trying to preempt H.

What is the point of this thread? In an open event where any team can join, anything can happen on qualification round.

They are easily readable....if you have a 25 inch screen :) unfortunately I have a 15 inch screen and to make it legible I have to use the windows magnifier program.

Yes, just because something is on vugraph doesn't make it "high level" bridge.

Can't deny they are supposed to be high level.
Noncompetitive auctions in these hands are littered with terrible bidding (at least they show no understanding of each other's bidding)

Is everybody bidding out of turn, or do we have 2 passes each time? Oh, and North didn't rescue 6 to 7, but to 6... Why would he jump?
