IMPs I'd probably open 1. MPs it's close between 3 and 1, I'd probably go for 3.

Unless playing a form of 2 suited opening, I would pass. Partner will expect more for an opening and a pre empt totally misdescribes the hand.

Will your partner bid 4S with KT ???? KQ ????? Mine generally don't.

I play 2/1 and this is IMPS:

My plan. is to open 1,

  • If partner is upassed:
    • he bids 1NT: 2[ .... and later 3
    • he bids 2 : rebid 2[ .... and later 3
    • he bids 2: rebid 3
    • he bid 2 : 2 ... hoping I can rebid later
    • he bids 2: 4
  • If partner is passed
    • he bids 2 (Drury fit): 4
    • he bids 2 : 3 preempt.
    • 1NT: 2
But I don't think the auction will proceeed without competition.....My plan is to show as quickly as possible, my weak bicolore hand.

pass. I have a feeling it's going to go 1H-P-4H back to me in which case I will bid 4S.

Yes, but what if the right save is in ?
Besides, maybe they cannot make 4 ?

3 or pass, if we were white I might entertain 1
I once yelled at my partner for discarding the 'wrong' card when he was subjected to a squeeze that I allowed by giving the wrong count with too high a card. Now he's allowed to pitch aces when the opponents have the king in the dummy. At trick 2. When he could have followed suit. And blame me.

For the stated colors and scoring I would expect a raise to be equivalent to a limit raise.

Pass.

In general - make up your mind, what to do with distributional hands with only a few HCPs,
before you get dealt such a hand, and stick with it.

One option is to include those hands in a weak two, a style played by Zia Mahmood and Michael
Rosenberg, they had also a structure to find out the 2nd suit, if there was one.

I prefer to open 1. Passing is an option so I can get back in later showing 2 suits (hopefully), but there's no need to let opps have a comfortable auction.

I really hate 2, partner will pass on way too many hands where we have an easy game. And if he supports to 3-level, there's no way for us to know if game is a good choice.

3 is similar to 2 imo, but a lot less risky imo so it gets 2nd place.
