4. I don't love my suits, but I'll get both in this way.

Same as Phil... classic Leaping Michaels = strong, both minors.

Ick. I hate this hand. I wonder if there's a case for a simple 3 diamond overcall, to leave 3nt in the frame

I agree with 3D. The suits are not good enough for a bid showing both minors.

im voting for 3c for the following reasons

1. 3d risks losing the club suit a ton more than 3c risks losing the dia suit.
2. there isnt a huge difference btn my !C and !D suit and if 3c is X its a ton easier to
go to 3d.
3. suits not good enough for forcing to 5 level AND leaping michaels eliminates the
possibility of playing a vastly superior 3n.
4. while i do not recommend bidding NT with Ax (Axx ok) there is no reason we cannot
still back into 3n via say 3c 3h 3s 3n (yes it works with !D as well that way but
see 1/2 above).

4NT, same distribution as 4 but weaker. 4 for me is a hand that can make 5m pretty much on it's own, which is not what we have...

I thought playing Roman Jumps or Leaping Michaels that 4NT was ace asking.

There is a parallel universe where 4NT is never ace-asking unless we have found a fit. You should check it out some day. ;)

It will depend on partnership style/agreements of the weak 2s, but, without agreements:

at equal vulnerability: 4S
Vul vs non vul : 4S
non vul vs vul: 2NT

You are correct, it was ace asking, it's not anymore... B)
