2/1 Standard ? What would be a standard 2/1 system ?

Just started to play bridge.
My friend adviced me to start with 2/1: "The system of the Champs", he told me, and gave me a copy of BWS2001-Defaults.:rolleyes:

But now, I am told from several sides, that nobody plays that system. I am very confused.:(

What would be considered as a standard 2/1 system, and where can I read something about it ?

Anybody who can help me ?

Indeed, helpfull to understand 2/1.
But it is not a full system, .....

My question - rather theoretical i guess - what is Standard 2/1 ?

Reading the articles on standard bidding and 2 over 1 on this site is a very good starting point:www.betterbridge.com

Paul Thurston: "25 steps to learning 2 over 1" is a good learning book
Mike Lawrence's: "A workbook on the 2 over 1 system" will help you understand more

Another possibility:
On BBO, go to Our Online Store. Click on it, then on Bridge Programs on CD-ROM, then on CD-ROMs by Mike Lawrence. Order The Two Over One System.

I like Lawrence. As you will find, there are different approaches and ML suits me. The CD is an updating from the workbook and I like the CD format.


You will find that "Let's play 2/1"---"OK" is dangerous. But with practice you will learn which questions you should ask before saying OK.

Bridge is a great game, I hope you enjoy it.
