O.K., my thread so my rules:

1) Your prediction must be quantifiable and easily looked up.
2) It must occur within a reasonable time frame - max 3 years (that way most of us will still be alive to razz you about it.)
3) It shouldn't be silly, but if you can't help yourself that's O.K. :)
4) It must be your own and not a summary of something read.
5) Your post must begin "I predict"
6) You have to sign it at the bottom.
7) It must contain the date you write it.

That's it. I'll be the guinnea pig:

BOLD PREDICTION #1: 25 July 2006.

I predict that within a year the DJA will drop below 9000. (Close today was 11,103)

I predict that before July 26, 2009 we will see the first BBO-vugraph of an event played with RFID-tagged cards and bidding cards assisting the work of the vugraph operator. The play of the cards is recorded automatically, the operators tasks limited to comments like "Dummy just ordered another cola light".

Bold prediction #3: (july 26th 2006)
NYMEX crude will break $100/barrel before july 26th 2007 ;)

Bold prediction #4: (july 26th 2006)
By july 26th 2056, it will be clear that the world's ultimately recoverable oil reserves (URR) are 2,5 trillion barrels +- 5%. (Just so you know, we've already used ~1 trillion barrels.)

Bold prediction #5: (july 26th 2006)
In july 26th 2036 the announcement will be made that we're 30 years away from commercial nuclear fusion power

i predict that by december, 2009, fred gitelman (who has been on the winning bermuda bowl team for the past two years) will be quoted in the acbl bulletin as saying, "even though we were a sound partnership prior to 2007, i can trace our upsurge in results directly to our changing to a relay precision system, complete with guaranteed canape` limited openings - it sometimes makes me wish we had made the change sooner" :P

1. I predict that Italy won't make it 7 in a row in Warsaw (even though they are favorites)

2. I predict that the USA will have a female president after the next elections.

3. I predict that within 3 years Justin Lall will have represented the USA in a Bermuda Bowl or Olympiad.

4. I predict that within 3 years at least one G8 coutry will reintroduce a car-free day.

Gerben (what day is it?)

I think within 3 years prosthetic organs such as kidneys will be in a testing stage and on the market within the following 5.

Too weird?

1. I predict that Southampton Football Club won't gain promotion to the Premier League in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

2. I pre-dict that David Bird will re-duce his number of hy-phens to a maxi-mum of 10 per 16-board-session before December-31-2008.

3. I predict that I won't make any more predictions in this thread before January 1, 2008. This is obviously the boldest of them all.

July 28, 2006 (bold).

1. Germany will get more money from taxes then it will spend.

2. we will cut down our unemployed from 5 to 1 Mill.

3. They will find the key for my rubber cell (is this the right translation?) within the next four weeks.

Okay, nothing of this will happen... so the more serious ones:

1. Unluckily Bayern München will win at least two of the next three Bundesliga seasons.

2. Luckily the DJA will break through the 13.000 line within this time.

3. I willl win a medal in a national bridge championship within the next three years....

Okay, this time, just one may be false :-))
Kind Regards

Roland

Why is this lucky? It was great fun when the tech bubble burst and all these overvalued stocks turned out to be waste paper.

I predict that Landis will be proven innocent.

Hm, probably only off by about 2.4 years.
