Double's not just aggressive, I think it's insanely aggressive

There was a hand in the Crockford's final last year (English teams championship, final = last 8 teams) where a similar, but slightly better, hand than this doubled many times and went for a penalty varying from 800 to 1400 against a NV game.

One hand proves nothing, but virtually everyone present except those who doubled was saying that double was 'silly', 'over-aggressive' etc; not 'unlucky' (I was keeping quiet because my husband found a double and our match was flat in 1400)

p.s. I was astonished to see that gnasher doubled on the hand in this thread

I double but that probably is just further evidence of what happens when you turn a matchpoint fan loose in an imp game. It is definitely a minimum if not subminimum.

I don't think poll options 3 and 4 are mutually exclusive. I would choose them both, because I AM a wuss, and I think doubling isn't aggressive, its foolish.

I think double is very aggressive action and I think most good players would not double.
I still double because I think my bridge hero would :-) (Meck)
