5C, meh, 4N could obv work better but I could also be 5-6 so it's tough for partner.

Dbl, I'll correct 4 to 5 or I'll be happy if partner passes.

Really? Were you always bidding 5 to make?

On this particular hand, bidding leads to different types of bloodbaths. Partner holds JT9xxx QJT 8xx x. The 4
bidder holds x AKxxxxx AQJx x.

At the other table this hand competed to 5, doubled by my teammates for 1400.

At my table, my partner bid 4N. RHO was nice to me and didn't double (thanks). I returned the favor and played the hand sub-optimally. 5 was down 1 (for them) :P.

Obviously I'm influenced by the hand, but is a pass really so terrible? Our suits suck, and we have a little defense.

You stated it was a short match. Yep, one board is a short match

I will admit to a push at 1400's. Hope my teammates smile.

I saw something wrong. I tought it was pard, not me, who opened 1.

Since I know the solution I'm too biased to opinate again, but I agree it's a tough guess.

In that case 5C was a huge underbid imo.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

You'd also bid 5C after partner has opened 1C? Those Portugese...
