Playing 2/1 in MP. The X by East just shows values. It does not promise 4 spades.
What is the best way to continue the bidding to conclusion?

4 by opener and 4NT (KC) over 4. If responder happened to bid 5 opener would go on with 5.

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

Why are we doubling with a flat 8 count? Xing shd be close to G/F, 10 HCP at least, so Pass is my 1st bid. But now that I doubled and do not necessarily have 4 spades, the only FORCING bid is 4d! as per Hanoi.

Direct 6 :)

Don't get picky after preempts. Be practical.

You made a good point about the double, and then answered the question about opener's rebid ---accepting that the double, which you would not do, has worked out well.

Bravo for your contribution. I think when you next bid 4S after 4D, partner will go appropriately ballistic.

Edit: it might have been more difficult if South had beat your partner to 4D.

I would also pass with the east hand, bid 3S with the west hand and then 4D with the east hand.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.
