I don't like 1NT on 2 doubletons. I can live with like Hx doubletons but if they're weak and the main suits stuffed, I always open 1x.

Here the question is not about opening with 2 doubletons....In most of the cases it would be more advantageous and competitive to open bid 1NT with semi-balanced hands..Actually, the question is about how to proceed in the bidding sequence when you have enough game points and which game contract to choose among the alternatives; 3NT, 4-M or 5-m...

The bidding sequence should provide enough information for the risk evaluation with regard to these two doubleton suits..

I have a modified version of Puppet in order to investigate about the openers hand...

So, responder has enough for game opposite a 15-17 1nt opening.

Please share your version of Puppet.

Necro of the month award, I wish BBO would close and request permission to reopen threads that have attracted no posts in n years (in this case, 13) :)

Having said that, always interested in another Stayman, but the best way to document that would be to open a new thread (even now).

Even if there is not an immediate rebid problem, there can be a problem with the 3rd bid. For example with a 4225 16-count, it goes
1c-1red
1s-1nt
?

Also, if rho interferes, you will have to pass (assuming you play support doubles).

So I almost allways open 1n with 5m422 and 6m322 if we play strong nt. Playing weak nt I may open my long suit with 6m322 or if it's specifically 4225 or 2254
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

If playing Transfer Walsh then many play
1-1R
1N can be 17/18-19
but you can also use this as 15-17 semi-balanced without support for the shown Major. Continuations over this start with
2 33minors weak
...

I almost always open strong 1N with 5M4m22 too.
In one extreme partnership we opened ANY 5422 "in" range as 1N (although that version of the Stayman is a bit contorted to handle 5M4M and I haven't enough data to say whether the complication is justified or not).
