Nice problem - I'm really not sure what my best bid is - I'm tempted by both dbl and 4. But I can easily imagine pass being right too.

Its Pass or 4 for me. Double doesn't seem very likely to win.

Unless my RHO is prone to make heavy preempts in 3rd seat, I'll try 4.

Partner should be shortish in so likely to hold some spades so put me down for a 4s call as well. I'd love to double, if he passes or bids or or 4nt (pick a minor) great but over 5 I'm in trouble and that rates a fair chance to be his bid.

This assumes a normalish biddinng system, if we open light frequently (or play a 10-12nt) I'll pass.

4S for me with pass a second choice. Double is not an option.

Pass or 4S, I chose pass. Partner holds a bunch of clubs and either he or LHO have short heart. 4 might be not that weak.
I think I would bid 4S in different vulnerability, but as is opposite passed partner with AJTxx, I am chicken.

"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Because of the VUL, I think I'd pass.
Too bad, though, because you have good play in 4 if partner has as little as K-4th, and cold if he has an Ace as well.

EDIT: Heck, with the latter ( K-4th and an Ace ), you are in the slam zone .

That's one thing for bidding 4, I don't believe you will miss the slam if it's there.
bridge is never always a game of exact, for those times it's all about percentages, partner and the opponents.

If pard were not a passed hand, I'd try 4S. As it is, I'd pass. Unless my passed pard pard can come up with a balancing double of 4H, I don't see our side being able to make game here.
