Dealer: East

East opens 1, followed by your Double and a 4 bid by West. It is an individual tournament with a partner you have never seen before so you decide to take no chances and bid 5.Your opponents are strong players and lead a 4th best 4. Certainly not the best auction but right now the biggest problem seems to be making this rather shaky contract. How do you proceed?

Don't we need Qx or stiff Q in order to make this ?

I can't, i must have missed that we don't have T .

I was trying to say we can not afford to use the only entry for finesse. Seems like we have a and at least 1 sure club losers.

Missing S:AQJ +H:K +D:Q +C:AQ =18, then, assuming we'll make this thing,
S:AJ +H:K +C:A are East. And D:Q10 falls as we need D:8 entry OR guess C:A single.
Too tired to continue this analysis.
I think I start thinking correctly.

Good start.
Any Qx plus AQ/Ax/Axx onside lets us use QJ to develop what we need in .
entry not critical.

I play the spade eight, draw trumps in three rounds, play a heart and eventually guess clubs. WTP.
