Can you make it to 6? (north will pass)
Can you make it if the opponents are silent?

You can bid a slam easily enough if you overcall a slightly bent 2N over 2, or if you overcall 3.

I can't make up my mind whether I want to be in 6 or 6 or neither, possibly depends on the auction.

Opps silent, we bid 1-2N(4, good raise to 3 +)-3(ostensibly natural/Hxx game try or better but better than bidding xxxx)-4(KC)-4(0/3)-4(Q?)-5(yes +K)-6/

2 - p - p - 3
p - 3 - p - 3
p - 5 - p - 6

Is the only route I can see and it's very much a stretch.

Against silent opps, 1 followed by jacoby 2nt should get there easily.

#1 No
#2 we should reach 4H, but this may also not a sure thing.
Most likely West should bid 2NT, Stayman from East, 4H.

Without 2S, I doubt this as well.

1H - 4D (1)
4H - all pass

With kind regards

I'd also fall in with the 2 NT bidders and settle for 4 .

Using Zel's mini- or in-between splinter ( 2S! over 1H open ):

1H - 2S!
2NT! ( asks ) - 3D! ( singleton )
3H - 3S ( Ctrl cue )
4C ( A, K, or shortness ) - 4S! ( kickback-RKC )
5D ( 2 - Q ) - 6H

3 would be a mini-splinter, for which this hand is too strong. The strong splinter with a singleton diamond is shown by a 4 rebid. You could probably play that a 3 rebid is also two-way but I have not tried it. If you start playing that then you can name the convention after yourself perhaps :).

I would never bid 2 NT with the west hand, but I know that much better player then me know that this is wrong. But my partners trust me to have at least a stopper against a weak two, even against one w/r in first seat- or at least some tricks somewhere and not this pile of junk...

I think East must protect with 3 and now? Is 3 forcing after I passed first? I do not think so. So I guess I would bid 3 and reach a mundane 3 NT from East... Well, I hope for an honour at the first spade lead and I will usually be fine- at least I will make it...
Kind Regards

Roland
