Partner lead the A of H. you encourage with the 2, he play the 3h dummy discard a D and your Jh hold.

You play the Qh and dummy will discard a D.

The hearts are

965--------------7

-------QJ82


What do you do if partner overtake the Q and return with the 4.

What if he play the 4 or the T under your Q ?

What about if the pointed suit are switched on dummy ?

Also does it change something if he play the 4 rather than the 3 at trick 2 ?

If both partners know p can leave you in for 2 entries or overtake
and lead back to you (leaving you with 1 entry) it is far more important
to switch immediately when p leaves you in.

that generally means p first return toward your hand is the most important suit
preference signal. Leaving you in generally means to make the obvious shift
but in the case where there are carding choices just look fo the general
high/low to determine which suit.

There are 2 ways to play your ♥QJ: either you take trick 2 with the Jack, or you take trick 2 with the Queen. Basically you can signal to partner if he has to overtake trick 3 or not. For us, when I'd play Q-J partner should overtake. If I play J-Q it means I have another ♥.

Is it right to lead the A from A K 10 x x ??

Afterall, you would need some help from partner to run the suit .

Isn't it better to lead 4th best ?
Why take a chance on suit blockage .

3Nt was doubled and declarer denied 4M. So the count of the hearts and how the points are split is knowned, its also why partner led the A from AKTxx.

if partner got with KJ of D and the A of clubs you need to switch D twice. While if hes got the K of S a S switch is necessary. If partner play the T of H (the only play that is giving you 2 entries) does it suggest diamonds ?

Partner either has the ace of clubs and a side king or the AQ of diamonds. Looking at dummy partner should be able to count on us to play a diamond. We must have a very strong reason not to play a diamond back, and we don't have one.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.
