Playing XYZ, what should 2D mean (by a passed hand) in the auction P-1m-1H-1S-2D (2C would still be XYZ even by a passed hand)?

This subject has come up before. The general consensus iirc was that xyz is not worth it as a PH, but that if you are playing it then one of the few meanings that makes sense is a natural invite.

There's at least one more thread out there, because I know I've mentioned this before:

2♦ is still checkback, but it promises 4 card support for opener's minor.

2♣ BPH is a relay to 2♦ as you normally would, except it denies support for opener's minor.

Playing this method, you have a better chance of wriggling out to your best fit.

It should be worth noting that depending on your nt range XYNT can still make a lot of sense as a game force even with a passed hand.

Playing a 12-14 opening 1nt a P-1♣-1♥-1nt sequence now reveals a 15-17 balanced hand, and now 2♦ game forcing checking for possible 5-3 heart fits or 4-4 spade fits makes a lot of sense.

Actually, it let pd select 2♦ or 2♠ in the most of the auctions,a sign off sequence.

If you play aggressive opening style, xyz should not be applied here. New minor forcing is the option for the passed hand.

With an aggressive opening style and a strong NT, so that the nt rebid is below 15, we find no use for NMF or the alphabet. We already opened 1M, if that is our focus, or we have natural support bids for the minor of pard.

We have kept NMF anyway, so that we can abuse it occasionally with insufficient values and get lucky, or blow the board.
