Scoring: IMP

In our bidding

W....N....E....S
1...p...2...?

I was South and bid 3 Michaels showing 5/5+ in majors.
My partner bid 4 and played it well to make?

(1)Was I too light (in hindsight I think I was) and what difference would it make if opps were Vul and we N/V?

(2) Would u dbl with North's hand over 1 - I personally won't given the clubs, HCP and shape and what do I do over a 1 response!

(3) If North Dbls for takeout if S/W pass over 2 what do u bid?

Decision is close, I would had passed but void heavilly suggests it will be passe out if you don't come in now.

North's possible bids over 1 are pass best, next 1NT, next 1, double is not even an option imo.

Over a double from North I would bid 4, 4 is close, but the spade suit is so bad to be suggested to be played in when you know you have fit.

No, bid your shape.

No. A little stronger and 1NT is the bid.

3H.

according to klinger, the north hand is just a tad shy of a t/o double... since there is no bid to make, i'd pass... i think your 3 bid was just fine (you came alive with 6/5)..

I'm going to pass with the S hand, since I think far too often you'll give too much information about the shape of the hand to help west play a 3NT contract. However, I'd also overcall 1NT with the S hand 1NT, since I like the 10s, and everything seems to be working.

If N doubles, he passes after a 1H, or a 2H response and apologises to his partner for being an idiot

If N doubles for take-out, he bids 3C, and raises either major to game, over 3NT he bids 4H, and over 3D he bids 4H and is worried.

Incidently, I think the E hand is a lovely limit raise of clubs.

I'd upgrade the North hand and make a 1N overcall. That KJ8x of clubs is nice. Certainly we'd all overcall 1N with AJ8 of clubs?

Then; whatever you have to show a 5-5 with the south hand; I like a skip to 4 myself.

Any action over 2 is risky, but I might try 2 (not 3, which courts disaster at IMPs).

yeah, 1nt overcall is certainly a possibility.. so either pass or 1nt, but definitely i'd not double

With the South hand I'll bid 2NT: any 2 suiter (usually lowest 2).

With the North hand on heavy days I might bid 1, but never 1NT!
