1nt psych how do I bid against a psych

Turns out East had only 3 points.
How should I have bid it?


ps can someone advise how to get rid of the "watch me make another hand" caption?

Its not easy, in the bidding double 3d is better, because you know ur in the dark and not going out of it, you dont know if you have a game or not, so instead of guessing , double 3d and hope thats good enough, this is especially right at imps, prefer 1 bird in hand the 2 on the tree. The second thing you should do is call the director to report the psych, its importent so ppl wont make this psych a normal bid.

Doublle and double, should have done the trick. Over 3D, double again.

How to get rid of the ""watch me make another hand" caption is simple. Post a few more times. This BBO assigns captions based upon the number of post. It use to be that the first five post or so got you a "novice poster" caption, after which you became a "beginner poster", then intermediate poster, then advanced, then expert then world class, and finally, something about being bored.

People complained because some very good players got the caption "novice poster" (obviously), while some total wacko's got "expert poster," "world class poster", and one even got the bored thingee. So someone (not me btw), changed the caption that was printed based upon number of post. This of course can be changed to something esle, if anyone has a great idea, why not suggest it?

i guess flame means to call the director so she can make a note of the person/team who psyched, for the purpose of insuring it isn't a common thing between them (which could serve to be u.i.)

as to your 2nd question, a psych by definition has to be a gross distortion of something that's 'standard' to the partnership making the call... so yes, in that sense psychs are standard bids, or they represent standard bids...

Yes, here the third double is clearly right, but what if the psycher had bid 3C instead of 3D? Then life would have been much more difficult!

Double, the only thing you should avoid is calling the director.
If you call the director they will play as if you were weak and take profit from your fear.
