Apologies if this is in the wrong forum

I've noticed a lot of pick up partners bidding 2D with about a 10 count and a 5 card diamond suit in response to 1C, as though a 1D response doesn't exist naturally.

Any ideas why, or is this just a cross I have to bear when I play with a pick-up

maybe wrong but if you're playing a strong club system isn't 1D a relay?

If you are using an allegedly natural bidding system, it seems to be what you say: the burden you bear with a pickup...I assume you mean on-line, since you could insist IRL that pard not do that.

My chosen partner (for life and Bridge) had a dyslexia thing ---only about 2D/1C ---, but only for the first five years.

I don't know whether you would like 2D/1C to be very weak or very strong. But, 10+ is in no-man's land.

Such a shame this is in the novice/beginner forum, I would have a great response otherwise.

Anyway, online pickup partners are wacky. You should try to get away from them as soon as possible.

with respect why not just respond to the question, I consider my myself n/b for this forum standard but always look at the expert forum etc to learn and would be interested to hear your "great response"

Thanks,

Are they just assuming all pickups play 1= or something stupid like that without realising diamonds are shown by a different bid ?
