If you come in as a sub in a tournament at trick 8 or 9, you have know idea what has been played before, are your trump good, do opponents have outstanding trump, are you side suit cards good? Its a complete guess.

Barring some method of informing sub what's happened before ( which would be very time consuming)

cant the board just be adjudicated

or a robot be used to take players place for that hand ( I don't think this would be allowed in ACBL tournaments)
