How do you propose the N/S hands be bid?

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

First I would treat N hand as 1 suiter after NT opening and start 4 if it is IMPs. Rest of it depends on agreements but I don't think finding slam is difficult after that. Missing grandslam or ending up in non making grandslam due to misguess is possible.

At MP, I would start with 4 showing 2 suiter and try to land in hearts if we have a fit.

I am sure good pdships in forums have better agreements, but these 2 would be my general approach w/o agreements.

Punting 6 is not unreasonable on the North hand. After the 3 bid, it is less likely that partner has significant values in spades.

4 = diamonds; 4 = hearts; 4 = hearts + minor; 4 = clubs seems like a good starting point, although I think the more common agreement here is "switch".

There is no scientific way to bid this. So try a practical 6 (or 5NT pick-a-slam if you prefer).

I think the more commom agreement here is "natural"!

I start with 4S to show a big 2 suiter. I will not treat a 7-5 as a 1 suiter.

And to answer the subtitle, "How do we defend?"... We don't.

Think I will join the 6 bashers; and I hate bashing.

I play Leaping Michaels in this case, with adjusted strength. So I have an easy 4 call to start with, showing a GF hand with 5+ and 5+.
