What a ridiculous piece of AI gibberish. "X is doing A or using B to do A." How is "using B to do A" not already "doing A"? Isn't that a completely superfluous phrase?

The USA needs to get out of its collective stupor and realize that its clownish, ignorant crybaby-in-chief is far closer in character and in ambition to the world's worst dictators than he is to anything resembling a decent human being. It's both comical and tragic that a buffoon like Trump could be elected to the highest office in the land, but it is ONLY tragic (and definitely NOT comical) to see how he is destroying his country and making it an object of pity, scorn, hatred, and laughter in all the nations of the world that remain decent. The man is not only an incompetent failure as a leader - he is also an incompetent failure as a human being.

Half the country voted for him, and most of them seem to be applauding what he's been doing in his first month back in the job. They've totally drunk his and Musk's "waste, fraud, and abuse" Kool-Aid that they use to justify what DOGE has been doing. He seems to be a "man of action", and that's what they voted for.

Until it's their job or Social Security/Medicare benefits that are affected, they'll probably continue to be happy.

Agree with barmar. It's the fault of the voters, esp. those "idiot" MAGA voters.

It simply can't be the fault of the politicians who lost, the party whose "vision" and "manifesto" the voters refused to buy, the "chosen" Presidential candidate who was sadly found lacking, the sitting President who won the primaries but somehow lost his nomination, or the "waste, fraud, and abuse" of Dem donor funds (reportedly in excess of $ 1 billion).

No no no, it is the "idiot" voters. Each and every one of them! Until their brainwashing is cured, there is sadly nothing that the Dem Party can do. Absolutely nothing!

I'm watching (from Mueller, She Wrote, Emptywheel, and others) the passage of several lawsuits around Memeboy's Minions.

All of the "orders to show" and "orders to refrain" are great, but "or what?" "Or what?" needs to be stated, and then enforced. How to do that when the enforcement officials by and large are run by the people being told to "stop doing this"; but I just wish once for "Oh, you can not provide information about this? Okay, 10 minute recess, after which you're going to jail for contempt until someone who *can* shows up and *does*, under oath. I recommend you use the recess to make some calls."

Help a guy out? I caught the sarcasm but then you said "PS: For anyone with impaired s.r.a.m filters, [/s]". I Googled s.r.a.m. and it said "standard random access memory". Probably not what you intended. I learn much from the various posts.

As to your overall (sarcastic) point I agree, at least somewhat. My views in brief: 1. Trump was always an egotistical con man and is now an egotistical con man who is losing his marbles. 2. The Democratic Party can be very frustrating.

Party leaders and strategists are supposed to understand what makes sense to voters. Sure, it would be good if voters had a thorough understanding of economics, history and foreign policy. I come up short. And my father, a typical voter as I was growing up in the 50s, had finished eighth grade, enjoyed hunting and fishing, belonged to the carpenter;s union, like most unions it usually supported the Dems, so my fathe usually voted Dem, excpept in 1952 whe the Korean War was dragging on, and Eisenhower seemed like the right guy to fix that, so my dad "liked Ike" in 52. I think he went back to Dem voiting (Stevenson) in 56. I think, or at least I like to think, that my fathe would not have been swayed by DT but he would have had some trouble with the current Democratic Party. As do I. But that's a long way from Trump. Some jokes just are not funny.

I'll work on my s.r.a.m. filter as soon as I learn what it is.

Every day brings new nonsense from Donnie and Elon while the spineless GOP is too scared to do anything but kiss up to the two jerks. The ignorant fools who voted for Donnie will probably be the ones who suffer the most from his destructive actions so it might be worth watching the show that plays out when the morons finally realize that the monster destroying them is one that they created themselves.

So we just had a measles death here in the US

An unvaccinated child in Texas.

The parents are the ones who decided not to vaccinate the kid.
The kid is the one who is dead...

Yeah, a bunch of Trump voters are going to suffer and yeah, I'm going to laugh at them, but there are going to be enormous numbers of innocent victims...

Yes, there have already been many victims of Trump's callous, oblivious ignorance and monumental stupidity. The suffering of the innocent ones is tragic. The suffering of the idiots who support the crybaby-in-chief is considerably less so - you know, something about "you reap what you sow".

Agreed. And I have been sorta quiet.

And why?

I cannot imagine a serious discussion of the pros and cons of having Canada become the 51st state. Of course we could debate whether it should come in as one state or as ten, one state for each province. But really?

Of course that won't happen.

Abandoning Ukraine apparently will happen. Trump and Putin will decide what to do. Zelinsky has "no cards". And Trump doesn't givve a whatever about the Ukrainian people, about Europe, about international law, about anything other than having everyone suck up to him.

Of course what Trump says on a Thursday often has nothing to do with what Trump says or does on the next Monday.

Rational discussion has become irrelevant. I don't really expect Elon Musk or Donald Trump to listen to me but it would be good if they would listen to well-informed dissenters who, on occassion, might politely suggest rethinking some of what they are doing. Well, good luck with that.

The February 28th meeting will go down in history as the diplomatic equivalent of the Hindenburg.

If American free speech has plummeted from "Four score and seven years ago" through "I am not a crook" to "You've done enough talking" then the world will simply have to wake up and realise that the USA has reduced itself to a simmering broth of hot sewage and get on without it.

Mexico and Canada should start accepting donations to finish the wall.
