Seems to me that BBO is struggling now with so many people having to play bridge online.
Maybe its time to insist people have an account, to play online with BBO nowadays.
These people moaning about connection problems, are usually the ones who will not pay any money.
People who just kibitz, or want to play for free, should be treated differently
Does anyone agree with this?

Absolutely not

BBO had a very well functioning ecosystem for a couple decades

The site was based around the ability to play bridge for free, which was subsidized by a combination of ad revenue and some fee based games.
You had a responsive management structure that directly engaged with the membership based

Now, the site is plagued with a bunch of refugees from face-to-face games, who never gave a damn about online bridge, and are now spoiling things for the rest of us.

The same jackass club owners and ACBL officials who killed the F2F game in North America are now in the process of destroying the online game as well.

Unfortunately these are unprecedented times, and a radical change is imperative.
I am sure there could be an inferior site, for the people who like to play for nothing.
But the sheer weight of numbers of players, who just want to kibitz or take up space on the server
are making problems for the rest of us.

I have never been so insulted in all my life....I mean really.
Its disgusting that people can write like that.
I was only expressing my opinion, and i have been a member for 18 years.
You people, are unbelievable, you are obviously one of the freeloaders.
I am thinking of reporting you to the FBI and maybe Interpol.

I'm willing to bet that I have spent a hell of a lot more $$$ on BBO than you have petbombom...

I'm just not stupid enough to think, let alone argue, that the ability to spend $$$ means that I deserve special privilege.

Petbombom, I'm sorry to say your comments do deserve a stern response.

  • In your OP, you say "These people moaning about connection problems, are usually the ones who will not pay any money."
The BBO platform has been using the tagline 'Free, unlimited bridge' on their homepage for many years. And I know this is something BBO prides itself on. So for you to come and suggest that people who don't spend on BBO are in some ways inferior is definitely a flagrant remark.

  • When hrothgar responded with a firm but fair post where he highlighted our admiration of BBO (hrothgar is a long-time contributor to BBF & his opinions have weight), you replied "I am sure there could be an inferior site, for the people who like to play for nothing."
Honestly, who are you to make such sweeping remarks? You could have (e.g.) suggested that BBO management upgrade their infrastructure. You could have made some other forms of constructive suggestions to handle increased volumes during these times. Instead, your response was to suggest curtailing or downgrading access to many just so that you (and your "paying" friends) can play in peace! You appear to be baiting for a put-down and you got one!!

  • In your third post, you say "I have never been so insulted in all my life....I mean really".
Really? You must have led a very protected life so far if a sharp retort on a forum related to a card game has been one of those defining insults of your entire life.

  • You make a wild, unfounded remark that "You people, are unbelievable, you are obviously one of the freeloaders."
How could you possibly know whether BBFers are or aren't "freeloaders"?
And what it "you people"(?) meant to convey? Seriously! Do you read what you are writing before you press the submit button?

  • Finally, this one brought a hearty laugh. You write "I am thinking of reporting you to the FBI and maybe Interpol".

You are welcome to keep posting on these forums, but if you choose to do so please do say something useful or constructive.

People who don't pay are forced to view ads.
