The casual server and the competitive (and login) servers are separate, and have separate who's on lists.
So if you're playing casual with friends, nobody on the competitive server can see you (nor you, them).
It's annoying. It's a function of having to quadruple capacity in a month last year. they're still catching up.

this doesn't really solve the problem when your are playing to talk to the oppenents. They may make a bid you dont understand and want an answer. Or maybe say something nice to someone at the table. Don;t know how i can do it but he can't from the same computer. We do have different accounts but.....

Make sure your chat destination is to Table, not to Kibitzers.
