What actually happened is I bid 1N, next hand bid 2, partner bid 3 RHO passed, back to me

That's why 1NT was an overbid.

But having bid it, it would be bizarre not to show your stops here.

You can’t persist with NTs now, so 3S (you’ve denied 4, no risk of partner raising you) to show your values and still stay below 3NT that partner can bid with help in H to consolidate the (very) fragile stopper you’ve advertised by not bidding it earlier, eg a singleton honor or better.
Over that, partner gets crazy and bids 4H, but it will still take some guts to arrive at the small slam.

1NT dod not promise a stopper.

I think I disagree with pretty much everything you posted except the 3 in this post.

1N is 8-10 with a heart stop for us, it seems the least worst bid.

I can’t imagine bidding 3C with that hand. 1N was constructive and even opposite wastage in hearts, AQ10x void AQx AQJxx is a gf hand. I’d bid 3H. Double should be takeout but I wouldn’t risk it...partner might convert, expecting me to have a heart.

Yes. I forgot that rho bid 2h so a second double was available

How good is your game? How solid your opponents?

I am torn between Double and 5as that gets the message across.
As responder to the double 1seems right as my suit is good. What could go wrong? The usual like playing 4. But on this hand you get to field 3 most likely don't you?

Still 2 could be as strong as 17 HCP and partner might have a natural bid or a good heart stop...

You are one of the 2 most competent pairs in the room, your opps aren't.

What can go wrong is that your partner has a 3145 minimum double and you play in a 3-3 fit.

I don't think doubler should make a call over 2H in direct seat with a minimum double.

The 2 bid hasn't happened at the point you bid 1, how well do you 1's going to play opposite a 3145 or 3244 ?

Are the opponents astute enough to lead a trump? If not, you'll make surprisingly often.

Besides, that's what you budget for when you double with that shape.
