Marshall always had some quirky but interesting ideas about bidding. Picked up his book back in the day, but never played the system. I was always curious about it for fun & curiosity. If you don't have the book ("My System: The Unbalanced Diamond"), the Kindle version is only 10 bucks on Amazon, and I think a used copy of the print version is even less. I've got a pretty flexible schedule, if anyone wants to try something different (or if you've actually played it!). GLM for what it's worth.

FWIW, I tried it many years ago with GrantP, and he went on to develop it further with a couple of his partners. IMO, the system as written is not very sound, but YMMV.
Also, I have since come around to firmly believing that the 1♦ opening should be the exact opposite (i.e., almost always balanced), and that the unbalanced hands should be distributed in the other openings (like 1M, and some 2-level openings). This may sound like a bizarre system design, but IME, it's way better than most standard Precision systems.

BTW, there was a Swedish pair in the Spingold semis (Nystrom/Upmark) round playing a strong ♣ system with a 1♦ opening (the below is my approximation):
1♣: (15)16+
1♦: Mostly balanced hands outside NT range; could be 5+m4M / 4441
1M: 5+ unbalanced in 1st and 2nd
1N: 14+-17 (can include weak NT range NV)
2♣: 6+♣ OR 5+♣4♦
2♦: 6+♦ OR 5+♦4♣
2M: Preempt
2N: 55+m
This removes the minor suited hands from the 1♦ opening, and the only non-balanced hand types are the canape hands with 5+m4M. IMO, this is pretty close to an optimal design.
