About me:
Started bridge a long time ago. Played for a while at university with colleagues and always remained interested. Been on BBO for years and now I really want to play with a partner again instead of with a robot. Would like to play a system that is common on BBO. So, not ACOL which I started with. Would like to start in the “Relaxed Bridge Club” and see how it develops. I am a serious and fast learner and I like good agreements. Know all the “basics” of bridge, but I am certainly not an “advanced player” yet. Live in Belgium at the moment but a move to Sweden is “on the cards”.
About you: Would like to take on a new challenge and is patient to discuss matters. Know the basic concepts and has at least a little playing experience. Would like to choose/set up a bidding system with me and put it into practice and optimise it regularly. Don't become frantic if a wrong bid is made or an inferior card is played. Have the ambition to become a better bridge player with me. Live in Western Europe and are a good communicator in English and/or Dutch.

Bridge partner wanted for relaxed games

Hi KoDiamonds,
I am in a similar position. I have been playing a lot of Solitaire against Robots for the past few years and am ready to play with a relaxed partner with whom I can progress. I have learned many of the conventions used in the robot planning but there are some that I would still not know to initiate myself (e.g., Truscott Jordan). I am getting more intentional about learning the ones I do not know, but worry this might frustrate a partner. I believe I might fit the intermediate level descriptor, at least when I am playing well. I am a retired engineer and am pretty good with numbers and logic but have only played Bridge in informal situations - mainly lunchtime at work over the years and with one other couple on weekends where we compelled reluctant husbands to join us. If you are interested in trying a partnership out, I would love to do so.

KoDiamonds,
I read your replies, lost connectivity while on my smart phone in a rural area trying to reply and now can no longer see your replies. But now that I am back home on my computer, I will respond to the note as I remember it. In terms of your question, I propose we use the same conventions as the GIB robots - 2/1 Game Force with 5 card majors, strong NT, strong (17+) jump shift, weak 2 bids and a strong artificial 2♣. As I mentioned, I am not expert on all nuances of the conventions, but if we choose to do this, we can study their conventions further and practice ad nauseum when we are not playing together. I don't want you to feel trapped in a partnership if we give this a try. If you ever want to call an end to the partnership, decrease frequency of play, or want a change, feel free to say so.
I think it is great that our backgrounds are so similar. My engineering degree was Chemical Engineering. Much of my career was on the business side though. I look forward to giving this partnership a try.
Best,

Hi, I love bridge. I started about 6 yrs ago and played a lot to learn. I'm not an advanced player, but I too love to learn. I play with a good friend in The Villages, FL. We play on BBO about 3-4 times a week, but I would like to play more. My name is Jill. Send not to me at: jillericson2@hotmail.com please.
