Hello! In my human play, I would lean heavily toward being declarer in NT with this hand and bidding. I would have expected my human partner to pass a 4NT bid if I had bid that instead of 4 diamonds since my 1NT bid showed 12-14 HCP and ops 4 clubs seems to have a sacrifice component. However, I did not feel comfortable doing that with the robot.

Would robot have interpreted a 4NT as Blackwood or as the contract to be played? Best regards.

Mike

I don't know the answer, although I don't remember GiB ever taking 4NT as natural except maybe over NT.

FWIW I would take it as natural here (and probably comment in the post mortem that I would prefer 2D rather than an immediate 3D).

It's Blackwood to the robots. (Luckily for you, since 4NT has no play.. though of course it would if GIB had the hand it promised. But then again so would 6 in that case.)
