So, there's a third - drop dead stayman
1nt - 2C I'm going to pass anything you bid

As an aside, I always thought this was not really "drop dead" as partner has no choice: "drop dead" is 1NT-3NT or 1-4 or similar.
Be that as it may, this is, to my understanding, Garbage Stayman: a 3 reply Stayman where Responder does not promise a rebid.
Almost all the search results seem to say the same, see this, this or this.

One other site confuses Garbage with Crawling.

Garbage Stayman: I have support for three suits, not clubs, and I'm going to pass your response to 2!C
Crawling Stayman: I have both majors, weak, and I'm going to bid 2!H if you bid 2!D, else pass.

With mini-NT I always played two-way Stayman and 2M natural sign-off, 2NT natural invite, 3 bids GF.

For me, the advantage of Precision is the small, clearly defined ranges; doing something with flat 10s besides pass invariably opens up a problem with the "4-point NT". Somewhere.

Easily fixable with a bit of artificiality.

1-1-1N = 16-18
1-1-2N = 22-23

The other ranges are handled by mini-Kokish: 1-1-1 shows either hearts or 19-21 balanced or 24-25 balanced. Responder is almost required to bid 1. (The exceptions are hands with one or both minors that are so weak as to not want to be in 3N opposite 24-25 balanced.)

But - like I said before - it can bite you if the opponents interfere over the 1 or 1-1.
