Pass. This hand does not meet my opening standards, and I don't think it's profitable to preempt with this hand either. We have the boss suit and RHO has passed, better to wait for partner.

Some people play a 'both majors' preempt but these typically start at 5-4. I think this hand is not even that suitable for such an opening, to be honest.

6 hcp in your 2 long suits , this is a pass.

I hope to get into this auction later, no sensible opening bid (and I DO play 2 as both majors)

Pass is the only systemic call with this hand playing standard methods.

I would open 2 (canapé preempt in spades OR unbalanced GF with primary spades) in my system.

I notice that Ekren 2 is defined (by Ekren himself or by Chris Ryall?) as

Quote

4- 4, 4-5, 5-4 or 5-5 in major and 3-10 hcp regardless of vulnerability.

here, which by my reading excludes hands with more extreme shapes like 5-6. I wonder if this is intentional or just the usual sloppiness. ("Our one spade opening shows five spades.")

We don't even play 5-5 in first seat

Frelling 2 is defined as 4+ & 4+ or 5+ so if worried about having 65 just call the convention by a different name. In practice I view this 6-card suit as a 5-carder given the suit quality. I doubt this hand will play anywhere but a Major so 2 is the easiest way to state your intentions.

If I'm looking at my hand on BBO I see the spades longer than the hearts, so the choice is simple :)

How much is the 0 of spades worth?

Let's see more of the auction please

Thanks.
There were 15 tables. East (Dealer) passed on all of them.
5 people passed.
4 bid 2H.
1 bid 2D (there are quite a few multi players here).
2 bid 1H (I was one of them).
2 bid 1S.
But the bidding that stood out was (with opps passing) 3NT*-5C*-5H-5S - I've no idea what this is.

Here's the full hand at our table.

How does this work playing Multi? I don't play it since it is forbidden here, but always interested in the auction.
2. 2N force
3 3nt?

Edit. Oh, multi allows you to define 2H as both majors

I think Edgar would pick up the jump to 4 opposite an opening hand.

I don't play multi - although it's very popular here.
Three people ending up self-immolating in 3NT - one of them after a multi auction.
I like playing against multi's because it's quite complicated and at my level most people mess it up.

I don't think the jump to 4 is unusual given my partner's excellent hand.

I agree that I was lucky and that the bid was a bit optimistic, OTOH it's a 6 loser hand and the colours were in our favour.

That’s my point, your partner has an excellent hand. I would always make a mild (or not so mild)slam try.

Multi is only as complicated as you decide to make it.

Ty for posting
As an intermediate player here
2 questions
1. Why open 1H?
2. Why respond 1S?

For me the issue with opening 1M is that North is more likely to make a failed slam try and you end up playing in 5 rather than 4S

Agree with 1 but not 2
1S seems rather routine

2. 2 would be more usual or is that because I play KI5?

I can't see any upside in responding 1.. if you have a spade fit, you have an easy auction starting with 2, while you're never going to be able to show your diamonds if you start with 1.

what makes you believe 1 spade is a routine response?
