I know it's my fault for bidding such an aggressive cue bid but I did well in this tournament and could have done even better

Well partner knew you had enough controls, otherwise you couldn't have bid 3.

North's jump to slam makes no sense to me.
But it's not the first time.

But I have a good hand. It doesn't take much

And I will defend myself my exaggerated forcing bid still allowed for the chance of insufficient aces

To me I just need the Ace of diamonds and a bit of luck

Still trying to interpret your code lol
Don't tell me lol

Are there not quite a few configurations of North that give a chance of slam lol

That is entirely possible. But what do you know of partner? He's got 9+ total points and 4+ spades, likely that's 5+ spades but you don't know. Even if he has Ace and KQ, he could be 5-2-3-4, lose a (assuming the Ace is on, so not 2 ), a club and are down if are not 3-3 in 5 .

But that is not even the biggest problem. The biggest one is the information YOU give to partner. You promise 25+ total points, so partner simply calculates you have enough for 6 , he trusts you and is sure you have Queen and a red Ace above what you have in reality. That's why you are in six.

The "but controls are controls" comment should have come from your partner instead. But we're lucky bots don't talk, we're not playing with chthonic (if you get the reference).

No the blub says partner has 9 or fewer total points, which implies less than 8.5 mod. losers. In practice its less than 8hcp, so you have a max. 26hcp between you.

Now your combined mod. loser count at best is 5+9=14 giving 11 expected tricks. So bidding 3 suggests support and a stronger hand than you have as you are unlikely to make 6 even when partner is maximum. Even on a total point count you have a max of ~30 so again not good enough

Thinking about it another way if South opens and upgrades to a 2N is North going to try for a slam?
