I noticed a significant change to the registration process for a Swiss Teams event this evening.

Suppose Player A invites Player B to partner them in the event. When Player B accepts, it is now Player B who must invite another pair to be their teammates.

This is a poor change for those events when you know who you are teaming up with. In many partnerships, especially at club level, Player A is always the player who knows how to register the partnership for a tournament and is also the one who knows how to invite teammates. I have many Player B's who have very little idea how to register and no idea how to invite teammates to team with them.

This evening it meant that I had one team registered with five minutes to go before the tournament and 26 pairs waiting for teammates. As the teams were set, and I cannot team up themselves, it was a stressful five minutes and we had to start late.

Just to say that BBO Support says that this was not an intended change. They have identified the problem and should have a fix in place shortly.

Yes, we'll fix it this week. Sorry for the disruptions to your teams tourneys.

This has been resolved. The flow of registrations is back to normal. We'll issue refunds for the affected tournaments. Apologies for the disruption.
