Scoring: MP

Deep Finesse says that 7 by W makes.

I can see how it makes on any lead except , but cannot figure it out on a lead.

Any ideas?

Before internet age you had a suspicion there are lots of "not-so-smart" people on the planet. Now you even know their names.

compound squeeze.

South has to give up a guard against one of the black suits - yes the 94 is guarding against east's A32.

After that there is a double squeeze.

To flesh this out, play 5 rounds of diamonds, S can afford 3 diamonds, a small heart (you play 2 diamonds a club and a spade from dummy) and then has to discard something useful.

A heart concedes 13 immediately.

If he pitches a club, you pitch a spade, then club to the A and a club ruff followed by the final diamond. S has to pitch a spade, you pitch a heart and H AQ squeezes N.

If he pitches a spade, you throw a spade and play a 6th diamond. S throws another spade, or it reverts to the previous line, throw a club from dummy, take the H AQ and play a spade to the A. Now on the 13th diamond, S must throw a club and when you throw a heart N is caught in the blacks.

"pre" is the correct prefix for one trick earlier. That is the preantepenultimate trick.

Charisma and handsomeness more than makes up for bad spelling!

I'd assumed that it was a deliberate misorthography.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

Lay off the contrafibularities. They do not belong in this forum.
