Scoring: IMP

From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

I don't think I'd be that close to reaching slam here, whatever methods I used.

How did you reach slam?
Kind regards,
Harald

I could see it happening after 1H p 2D p 3C p 3H.

I can't.

1-2
3-3
3-4
4-pass

is about as optimistic an auction as I can think of.

1H-----2D
3C-----3H
3S

This seems automatic.

Now

Do you think a 4C cuebid show AKQ of clubs or could it be a stiff ? (I prefer to play that a cuebids in 2nd suits is showing AKQ but i think that many play that in a 2nd suit/fragment any control (stiff/void) is acceptable). After the 3S bids if north overbid by making a 4C serious cue instead of a non-serious i think you will go overboard.

Since clubs is partners suit, I would be vary to make my
first cue in his suit, so I would go with 4D, which should
deny a top honor in club.
Opener will bid 4H, and thats basically it.

To bid 4 over 3 is awful, regardless of whether it's serious or non-serious. A void in partner's second suit isn't an asset, especially when you have only three trumps.

I can't see a slam at all. Surely if you are playing 2/1 not GF if rebid, you have to have general game invitation strength to reply 2D. And you haven't. After a 1NT (or 1S) respoonse I can see the bidding getting to 3D (responder being selfish) or 4H, but no higher.

So I suppose the answer to the question "how to stay out of slam" is to get a decent partner.

How to stay out of slam?

Stop in 4H. Who has extras? Who sees a big double fit with controls?

Heh, not everyone is good at bridge. I just meant I could see people overbidding with a nice 17 or cuebidding a club void etc etc. Seems like the type of hand people get overboard on.

FWIW I think north should bid 4H over 3S if not playing serious/non serious, which feels weird with 3 first round controls but the round suit holdings are just so terrible and theres not enough meat imo. I agree even if he cuebids south can sign off.
