Scoring: MP

Partner deals and opens 1, you respond 1, partner bids 4 (splinter), RHO unexpectedly comes in with 4 and you decide to content yourself with 4, ending the bidding.

Lead is the 6, how would you play?

You knew your partner had short clubs , 4+ diamonds, and 17+ points and you bid 4H with 4 small hearts and AQJx of clubs opposite his stiff and 11 points and a diamond at equal white over their 4D...

?????????????????????????
????????????

Dunno how I'd play it, will think about when I have recovered from shock.

Yeah crazy I know... all I can say is the field wasn't very strong and I figured 4 wasn't exactly indicating good breaks.

I dont understand this post, in case I was too subtle I was trying to imply that you should have doubled them in 4D. They are unlikely to make it. Sorry to hijack your play problem I just had a heart attack thinking about how many we could beat them, and how there would be no entry to dummy, and how glorious it all would be.

I feel like a GIB robot I can't really decide how to play it since this is all so impossible. I'm thinking of playing a club to the queen and then a heart to the 8. That line would be a disaster against stiff heart honor on my right though, so cashing the ace might be reasonable but thats bad on 5-0 onside, and meh on QJxx onside.

edited to add some content about the play

Definitely too subtle.
and the result can be plotted on a graph.

I am pretty hopeful that RHO will have Kxx of clubs and I will make 6, but maybe thats too optimistic.

Now that is subtle.
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

you have to get down from standing in your chair first as you did not get to yell "harvest time" :(

as to play, gut reaction is to play a disquieting AK followed by A and a ruffing finesse

the Freman, Chani from the move "Dune"

That sounds very optimistic to me.
RHO should have all outstanding 7 plus very short . Since he can have at most 7 points outside of I would not be surprised to find him with no at all.
I would also take the finesse at trick two. If it wins I would ruff a . Cash just one , whether East follows or not and play A and overtake the second in hand. Now play A discarding a . If the last is high discard a second before continuing . If LHO has all and ruffs, discard a . You can now make 11 tricks if RHO had 3=0=7=3 with the K.
In the unlikely event that LHO has only 4 you can overruff and ruff a back to hand with the 9.
If the king does not drop in 3 rounds West must follow to at least 3 rounds of . Ruff the fourth low in dummy and come back to hand with a . West will now have only left. Play your last and overruff in dummy finally ruff a with the 9 to endplay West.
