Preemptive or not? Robot's bid of 3 spades is...surprisingly strong

You might like X at South's first turn better than 1, but c'est la vie.

3 is described as 4-8 total points, consistent with a preemptive jump.

North's hand is a bit better than that...

(and yes, I know that 4 can be set if lefty underleads his club honors).

The rule for the cue bid in this auction requires 16 HCP, which seems pretty heavy. I guess the assumption was that opener has a full opening hand (because he rebid), and responder has some points, so there's not much left for partner, so we don't want to invite game without significant extras. I think this is a bug, we'll investigate a fix.

While playing around with this, I asked GIB what it would have bid if West had passed instead of bidding 2. I expected it to cue bid, but instead it bids 1NT! That seems like a real bug.
