suit play right suit wrong cards played :(

Can someone tell me where I went wrong and what I missed at the table, my bad play let opps make +1 and they should have gone down

10S, 5C, 2S,4S
8S,7C,JS,5S
QS (from pard),6S,9S8C
this left me with AS in hand and I had blocked the suit, we were playing udca and 1st card was encouraging

There are 7 tricks in dummy. After partner has played the J and Q of spades you know for a fact that declarer must have 9 tricks - a count of the points shows that partner can't have both Aces, so declarer either has both Aces or one Ace and K. But if declarer had K he simply takes it on the first round and runs 9 tricks, so partner must have that card to give you a chance. Now your defence is clear.

After the 2 encouraging, could partner could help you by playing the K on the second round therefore prominsing the Q? You play off your A and then play to his alleged Q and bingo?

hi scpetic. it went ten of spades low low low then a spade to pards jack...both held. Now if declarer had had the king wouldnt he have won the king earlier? since he didnt pard must have it (his SQ was misleading but its still not too hard to figure out if you think about it).
