This was more of a pulse check rather than a temperature check. Players who would pass don't have a pulse.

Yes, the temperature check refers more to the players well being after the hand.

South has an easy raise of partners opening 1. East thought X was penalty, was West too aggressive?
South and East made some mistakes here. North made the biggest one though, with that crazy rebid. West's X is aggressive without shape - the double says "I would like to bid but don't know what", but the question is whether you want to bid at all. The chance partner has a heart stop is small, plus partner was allowed to bid over 3 with extras. On the other hand all of West's 11 points are working on offense. I would have passed, trusting that I have already shown my values.

In conclusion, all four players seem to have messed up. Quite the board.

LOL, it looks like North knew his opponents, and his partner.

I don't understand West's "I would like to bid something but don't know what" double, West has denied both spades, and diamond support.
Isn't the double here more of a value showing bid, DSIP, or leave it in?

Honestly, if as North I knew my partner was someone who would pass 2 with that hand, I'd think 3 was a good gamble.

I think those are pretty much the same thing. They all mean "I think this deal belongs to us, we are being stolen from. What do you suggest we do about it, partner?". I think West, looking at three small hearts, should realise that partner will almost never be in a position to leave this in. So "Do Something Intelligent, Partner" basically boils down to "pick a minor, or 3NT once in a full moon".
