I've updated the spreadsheet for round 2. Have asked Povratnik the status of his robot challenge - will put crazy4hoop through if I don't hear back within the next day or so.

The deadline for round 2 is Tuesday, 6 September, 11:59pm EST.

I actually wasn't behind with matches. Just didn't have enough energy and concentration to report in the thread. Apologies

How does one report to BBO a player who used foul language?

In general, abuse@bridgebase.com. But if this has a connection to the challenge event, which is generally independent of BBO and can have whatever rules I make up, PM me.

Question about the scoring.

[Disclaimer: This is a free event, thanks very much for organizing, and we're all just playing for fun here!]

In the first round I finished 3rd in my group, with a total just 1 board behind 1st. But now, my scores against players who did not advance have been thrown out, and I am suddenly in 11th place, with only the top 4 finishers in this round advancing? How did that happen?

You've removed 3 of my scores that happened to be good, and kept all my worst scores. This affected each player to a different degree, in a way which was mostly unpredictable. It seems... capricious. If we're going to carry over scores at all, why not carry over all the scores?

Apologies if this topic has come up before and I missed it.

Yes, any format like this could affect some players more than others, and there are pros/cons, with some always better off than others. The general idea is to play a full round robin which is the fairest format, but that would take too long.

The simple explanation is to imagine you are only playing a round robin against the top players. You've already played half the challenges, so there's no need to replay them. In this round robin in complete isolation, the results are fair.

Those who beat the weakest players by higher scores won't have that taken into account, it's true - though at the same time, if all scores were carried forward, those in a pool with weaker players would be unfairly advantaged as the other half didn't have a chance to emulate such scores.

But look between 3d and 11th places there are only 3 points.
Play every match like final.
