Partner Super Accepts have I gone soft?

I bid at IMPs regardless.

At MPs, I want to know about your system and partner. Do you have other superaccepts, and what would they mean? Does partner understand hand evaluation in this situation, or are they superaccepting on any hand with 4 spades and 16/17 hcp? Are you expecting to be with the field up to this point?

I think I would bid 4♠ at both IMPs and MPs.

3♠ typically shows max. and 4+♠ with expected mod. losers of 6.
Partner has 9 mod. losers before any adjustments so an easy 4♠ any scoring.

You know me, I'm lucky to have any agreements. :)
Super accept with 4 cards and 17 hcp, perhaps a good 16 but so many players base hand evaluation on "rules of.." I'm not so sure but let's assume you are playing with a partner who has some skills in hand evaluation. It sounds like you would bid 4 at in either game.

I play that 3♠ is a minimum with 4(+)-card accept. Conversely, 2NT is a maximum with 4(+)-card accept. With 4333 we may choose to conceal the 4-card support.

There are other schemes, but I'm not a fan of leaking more information on what is likely a game (and not slam) auction.

I accept despite, for me, it shows roughly 4333. 15-17.

I would at least consider 3NT.

At MPs, I would pass if 3♠ denied a small doubleton (xx in any side suit), and I would pass if partner was a bad bidder. Otherwise I would bid.

HI Jilly YES standard reply BID 4 MPS or IMPs why imps disaster if you don't play 4s and it makes, same with MPS

the doubletons make it 9 Goren points. And they do _not_ duplicate the fifth spade.

Goren? Add 1 point for each doubleton and bid game, open 13 counts and 16-18nt
