Agree with the JS?

Now I don't care if you agree with the jump shift. You've taken the hand over for me, who made the bid. What is your bid now?

I would think 3 was standard here...

I can live with 4d...partner did not rebid 3nt for some reason.

He understands 3nt over 5 of a minor better than me.

4sf is always good to transfer blame though.

Maybe it's because he's got 6 of them? Anyway, 3 now. If pard fails to bid 3NT now, I have an easy 5.

The funny part is this:

1 1NT
3 3
3 3
4...

is 4 a diamond cue for spades or just a fit-showing bid after 3NT failed?

A 2 rebid is enough for me but of course 3 is not terrible.

Suppose I have to bid 3 (fsf) now.

Then why ask???

I would also bid 3H btw.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I do want input on jump shifting, as I thought it was close either way.

I also wanted input on what I should do next after having jump shifted, so I was hoping that those that disagreed would put aside their disagreement to comment. If that was not clear, then hopefully this addendum will help clarify the intent of the post.

These were the full hands and the auction we had.

Scoring: IMP

1 1N
3 3
3 3N

Partner had a misunderstanding about what I intended 3 to be, but all was well because the person on lead underled their ace of hearts, and partner brought clubs home for 5 tricks.

I had opened 1 Club with this hand, but this seems to be unpopular.
I had not jump shift, but it is close. If the K of Heart had been guarded, it had been normal.

I had surely bid 3 now.
Pd is nuts if he thinks that we show a stopper here, but maybe this is just me.
With a normal pd I had reached 5 Club.
Kind Regards

Roland

Pard is kinda endplayed after 3. 3 should show quite different a hand and 3NT really doesn't feel right (though it's probably the only sensible choice). Certainly not 4, which is slammish.

#1 not really, but I have made bids, which were worse
#2 5D, I forced to game with min, partner shows 6+ and
a weak hand, I stop

It matters of course, what a direct 3D bid
instead of 1NT would have shown.

3D is ...

Before you start talking about the meaning
of 3H, start talking about 3D.

Partner should bid either 3S or 4S, although
I would say, that 3S shows the limit raise in
spades, so he has to bid 4S, ... of course he
can also bid 5C, but getting 11 tricks is a long
way.

If he does not like it, he should have passed
the 1S opening bid.

With kind regards
Marlowe

PS: Add the jack of Diamonds, and he has a clear
response to 1S, and he still has the same problem,
... so he should get used to bidding 4S with just 2
spades.
With kind regards
