partner opens 1, RHO passes, you're playing 2/1

if you bid 1N partner will bid 2, whats your next call
you're not playing Bart or any other special toys

1N and then 2N over 2. Some will bid 2, but I think thats the wrong approach.

2N, could be a silly contract but p will bid a 3-card hearts now if he has it and a little extra.

If p bids 3 now then I'm allowed to fluke at the system once in a while.

If this is imps I'll just make a slight overbid and go with 2. Life will probably be much simpler then.

Hi,

1NT seems clear.

And I guess, openers 2C bid could be made
on a 3 carder?

Ok, 2H is an underbid, and should show
a 6 carder anyway.
I would go with 3C, the alternative being
3H, if I have agreed, that this is a fit jump.

With kind regards
Marlowe

PS: Please dont tell me, 2C could be made
on a doubleton ...
With kind regards

after 2 I'd bid 2 showing 5 hearts.

With no agreements I like 2NT rather than 3.

1N 2N, I will give this a WTP. Switch to bart afterwards.

I don't think this qualifies for "WTP" There clearly is a problem with this sequence, although your presumed point that there are no good alternatives may be valid. If I had held this hand I would have at least considered a 2 response.

Noble imagine pard having the same hand with majors changed and minors changed. it's a wtp opener but what game are we going to make? yuck!
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Right but my point is there is the chance a direct 2 will run afoul of a hand like that but then what if partner is 5323 or 5314 and passes 2NT when 4h is cold? There are problems both ways. I think 1NT,2 is a reasonable sequence as well with this hand despite the extra strength. I would also bid 1N 2N but dont think its auto.

The action chosen at the table was 1NT,2. Partner (me) had K6xxx K98 10 AKxx and raised. If this hand had bid 2NT it still would have worked out since I would have bid 3 over 2NT so the decision was irrelevant on the actual hand.
