Lefty and partner pass and righty opens 2S weak. What's your call with these two hands? Assume IMP scoring, let's say both are vulnerable.

3 on each. Hope I don't miss game. I don't totally hate 3NT on the second one.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

I'm not sure which one of you to agree with, but I certainly wouldn't bid anything other than 3 in either case.

If I were looking for a non-3 bid to not hate, I might suggest 3 on the second one.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

nige1 doesn't give scores for his 4th, nor his 3rd, nor his 2nd choice! Must be a very clear-cut choice.

Gnomed!

I liked 3 and 2NT on the second. I certainly understand the dangers of 2NT (partner transferring us into s), but with so much in the majors and a trick source, seemed a reasonable shot. It also is safer than 3NT (but given LHO is a passed hand that danger is mitigated regardless).

Well I suppose a more imaginative player might be spoilt for choice e.g
  • QJ A AKJx QJxxxx 3 = 10, 3 = 8, _X = 5.
  • QJ A QJ9x AKJxxx 3 = 10, 3 = 9, 3N = 7, 2N = 6, _X = 5

WTP 3C on both hands
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."
